Costumed Ratapult Rat / Launch on Big Festival Trebuchet
          Entry fee ($20.) gets you a standard plush rat. (Very soft and cute)
You name the rat and make a costume with a Medieval or Fantasy theme for it.  Walk with your entry in the Pied Piper Parade (3 short blocks through the festival).  Costumes will be judged.  Then let your rat take its turn on the Big Festival Catapult or Trebuchet.  Prize for best costume and prize for longest flight forward.

Same Day Ratapult Rat
          Same as above, but with no costumes.  Rat will have ‘cape’ for
number and optional logo. 

Novelty Costumed Rat
          Entry fee is $10.  You supply your own rat of any size or material.  (Real rats are not allowed.)  Walk in the Pied Piper Parade.  Rats will be judged.
 
Classroom Novelty Costumed Rat
          Fee of $25 supplies you with a large Rat with vest. 
          Fee of $10 means you supply your own rat.  These rats will not be in the Pied Piper Parade or be launched.  Rats received by April 1 will be on display in Ray’s Cycle window for all to see. 

Costume Contest Only with Festival Puppet Rat
          Entry fee is $20. and comes with rat.  These will not be launched.  They are expected to accompany their handlers in the Pied Piper Parade.  Rats will be judged.

Rat Hurling for Kids under 9 years only
          No entry fee or entry form necessary.  Show up at the appointed time.  The Festival will supply rubber squeaky rats.  Kids will line up (depending on how many kids, they may be divided by age and size).  They will use their own power to hurl the rat.  Farthest distance forward wins the prize.

Build Your Own Trebuchet    Division
          Put what you learned in your high school physics class to work.  Teams will launch a standard squoosh rat (supplied with entry) from their own designed and built trebuchet.  The rat will be launched into a target area using only the energy from a falling counterweight.  The maximum counterweight allowed is 30 pounds.  Success will be measured by distance forward.  Cash prizes will be given.  Some scholarship entries are available for local high school students and scouts.

          Individuals, teams, families
                   (Saturday, April 19)  Entry fee $20.
          Corporate teams
                   (Sunday, April 20)  Entry fee is $100.

SAFETY FIRST 
Remember that there is an element of danger in making and operating trebuchets.  They can misfire and behave unpredictably.  Adult supervision is very strongly advised.  Use common sense, care, and focus on what you are doing and what folks around you are doing.
